What we publish
Rank Forge publishes ranked shortlists, comparison guides, and decision checklists across everyday topics including home, travel, books, food, technology, fitness, and personal productivity. Each article is designed to help readers narrow a decision rather than tell them exactly what to buy or do.
How rankings are built
Each ranking starts with a clear reader intent — for example, choosing a fitness app, finding a reliable kitchen gadget, or picking books for personal growth. From that intent we identify a candidate pool of options and apply visible criteria such as:
- Practical usefulness for the stated purpose
- Accessibility and ease of entry
- Cost awareness (free, low-cost, or premium options noted)
- Durability, reliability, or long-term maintenance where relevant
- Reader fit across different circumstances and preferences
- Common tradeoffs that affect real decisions
Where options are genuinely close, we describe the tradeoff rather than forcing an artificial rank. We do not include options we cannot evaluate reasonably well.
Source hierarchy
We prefer primary and official sources first: manufacturer pages, product documentation, government or regulatory pages, safety notices, peer-reviewed research, official event pages, and published policy documents. Secondary sources such as major reviews, trade publications, marketplace listings, and user communities are used for context, but they should not carry important factual claims on their own.
Author accountability
Rank Forge uses named bylines for articles where readers would reasonably expect to know who edited the page. Author profiles explain each editor's coverage focus and link back to current articles. A byline means the editor is responsible for keeping the article aligned with this policy, not that every product or destination has been personally tested.
Review cadence
Fast-changing buying guides, travel pages, streaming guides, and entertainment calendars should be reviewed whenever a major product, price, platform, visa rule, release date, or availability detail changes. Evergreen home, books, food, and productivity lists are reviewed less frequently, but still need corrections when a source or recommendation becomes outdated.
Accuracy and updates
Prices, availability, and product details change. We make reasonable efforts to ensure information is accurate at publication, but readers should verify current details — especially pricing, stock, and specifications — directly with the relevant retailer or vendor before making a purchase or commitment.
When a correction is needed, we update the article and change the Updated date on the page.
No paid placement
No brand or vendor pays to appear in, rank higher within, or be excluded from any Rank Forge editorial list. Rankings are editorial decisions only.
Advertising disclosure
Advertising supports the site. Ad placements are labelled "Advertisement" and are placed to support the reading experience without blocking navigation or ranking content. Ad revenue does not influence which options we recommend.
Corrections and feedback
If you spot an outdated price, a product that has been discontinued, or information that no longer matches the current state, contact us at contact@rank-forge.co.za with the page URL and the source you believe should be checked. We review and update articles when corrections are confirmed.
